Softball Recap: Northwest Lions vs. Parkway Central Colts

Northwest extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-15. They fell 8-4 to the Parkway Central Colts. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colts apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Northwest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Melina Lang, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Lang has hit this season.

As for Parkway Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On Parkway Central's side, Marlee Williamson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Williamson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Aubrey Lewis was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Olivia Magruder, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Northwest will look to defend their home field on Friday against Parkway North at 4:30 p.m. As for Parkway Central, they are taking a road trip to challenge Cor Jesu Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
