Softball Recap: Thomasville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Seminole County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thomasville). They put the hurt on the Seminole County Indians with a sharp 19-0 win on Monday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Ava Simpson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fallyn McDougald, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Jaelyn Oehlhof was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Thomasville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Thomasville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Seminole County, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Thomasville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-0 win against Miller County on the 10th. As for Seminole County, they have also already played their next game, a 29-21 loss against Pataula Charter Academy on the 9th.
