Softball Game Preview: Chamblee Bulldogs vs. Southwest DeKalb Panthers

The Chamblee Bulldogs will take on the Southwest DeKalb Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Chamblee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, Chamblee came up short against Mount Vernon and fell 4-1. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Chamblee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Southwest DeKalb owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They blew past North Springs 8-0. Considering the Panthers have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Southwest DeKalb let Bailee Canty and Nyla Denbow run wild. Canty went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Denbow went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Madelyn Flournoy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Southwest DeKalb is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chamblee, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chamblee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Southwest DeKalb struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
