Football Recap: Midland Valley Skates Past South Aiken with Ease

Midland Valley hadn't done well against South Aiken recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mustangs breezed past the Thoroughbreds to the tune of 43-14. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.

Xavier Geter had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 116 yards and one TD, while also throwing for 181 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (163.2). Preston Smith was another key player, rushing for 93 yards and one score.

Another reason for the win was Midland Valley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. South Aiken's QB won't forget Aaron Adams Jr anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Adams Jr also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten. Midland Valley got some further help from Triston Garrett: he forced one fumble, made nine total tackles, and defended one pass.

South Aiken lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Blain Drake, who rushed for 85 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 73 yards and one TD. South Aiken also got a significant boost from Kaeleb O'Berry, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 98 yards.

Midland Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.6 points over those games. As for South Aiken, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
