High school football: Utah signal callers Parker Snyder, Nic Staffieri top list of national passing yardage leaders

By Staff Report Sep 14, 2022, 11:00am

San Juan's Snyder is coming off a 468-yard, five-touchdown performance in a win last week.

Most high school football teams in Utah have already played five games this season so it's not a huge surprise to see quarterbacks from the Beehive State dominate our initial look at national passing yardage leaders for the 2022 season.

At the top of the list is San Juan (Blanding, Utah) junior Parker Snyder, who brought his season total to 1,640 yards after throwing for 468 yards and five touchdowns in a 35-28 win over Canyon View last week. Snyder, who has also rushed for 360 yards and two touchdowns, has led his team to a 5-0 record.

Nic Staffieri of Pleasant Grove (Utah) has been on fire over the past four games (all wins), averaging 333 yards per game through the air and throwing 15 touchdown passes to bring his season total to 1,542 yards.

Drew Novak of Western Brown (Mt. Orab, Ohio) is another signal caller to keep an eye on. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound senior led the nation in passing a year ago with 5,269 yards and he's back at it again this fall, currently sitting at No. 4 on the leaderboard. Through four games, he's thrown for 1,443 yards and 11 touchdowns, including 450 yards and four touchdowns Aug. 26 against Washington (Washington Courthouse).

Read on for a complete look at the nation's passing yardage leaders.
