Volleyball Recap: Newman Grove/St. Edward Takes a Loss

Newman Grove/St. Edward lost against Osceola back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Panthers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Osceola scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-17.

Kailey Patzel paced Newman Grove/St. Edward's offense, picking up 11 kills. Patzel got some help from Olivia Reardon and her eight assists. Patzel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Newman Grove/St. Edward's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Osceola, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-3.

Coincidentally, Newman Grove/St. Edward and Osceola will both be playing Nebraska Christian the next time they take the court. The Panthers will host the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
