Soccer Game Preview: Athenian vs. College Prep

Athenian is 0-6 against College Prep since January of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Athenian Owls will be playing in front of their home fans against the College Prep Cougars at 3:15 p.m. Athenian will be strutting in after a victory while College Prep will be coming in after a loss.

Athenian's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Making Waves Academy by a score of 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Owls.

Flo Bianchi was the driving force of Athenian's attack as she scored both of Athenian's goals, bringing her season total up to three goals.

Meanwhile, College Prep came up short against Head-Royce on Friday, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 798th, while the Jayhawks are ranked 141st).

Athenian's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-4. As for College Prep, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4.

Athenian suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to College Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Athenian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
