Basketball Recap: Gilpin County Comes Up Short

Gilpin County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 32nd straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 86-12 loss at the hands of the Heritage Christian Eagles. The contest marked Gilpin County's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Heritage Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Levi Hermsen, who went 8 for 11 en route to 16 points along with five assists and four steals. Hermsen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Alec Lundy was another key player, going 8 of 14 on his way to 17 points and eight boards.

Gilpin County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Heritage Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Gilpin County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-27 loss against Belleview Christian on the 28th. As for Heritage Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-27 victory against Clear Creek on the 24th.
