Baseball Recap: Sierra Chieftains vs. Shafter Generals
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sierra can now relate to. They fell 6-2 to the Shafter Generals on Thursday. The Chieftains were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Generals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2016.
Wyatt Young made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Sierra's defeat dropped their record down to 22-9. As for Shafter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Sierra does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shafter, they will take on Minarets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
