Soccer Game Preview: San Gabriel vs. Alhambra

San Gabriel is 1-8-1 against Alhambra since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The San Gabriel Matadors will face off against the Alhambra Moors at 5:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, San Gabriel came up short against Mark Keppel and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 507th, while the Aztecs are ranked 222nd).

Meanwhile, Alhambra also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Schurr by a score of 4-2.

This is the second loss in a row for San Gabriel and nudges their season record down to 12-7-3. As for Alhambra, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-3.

San Gabriel skirted past Alhambra 1-0 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Gabriel since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
