Football Recap: Saint Francis Catholic Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Carson Long and Jake Long

The Saint Francis Catholic Academy Wolves ended up a good deal behind the Ocala Christian Crusaders on Friday and lost 38-20. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 583rd, while the Crusaders are ranked eighth).

Saint Francis Catholic Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Jake Long and Carson Long. Jake rushed for 55 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Carson gained 114 total yards and a touchdown. Jake also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Wolves are 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise.

Joshua Davis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 237 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.1 yards per carry for Ocala Christian. Davis' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 234 rushing yards. Vincent Perrella was another key player, rushing for 84 yards and one score.

This is the second loss in a row for Saint Francis Catholic Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Ocala Christian, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saint Francis Catholic Academy will challenge Liberty Christian Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ocala Christian, they will face off against Lake Mary Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
