Recap: Burroughs Bears vs. Shalhevet Firehawks

The Burroughs Bears won against the Shalhevet Firehawks on Friday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Burroughs snuck past Shalhevet with a 46-41 victory. Winning may never get old, but Burroughs sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Burroughs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mariam Fahs, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Fahs pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Martin, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Burroughs pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Shalhevet, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burroughs will square off against Muir at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Muir will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 647th, while Burroughs is ranked 186th). Shalhevet and Yeshiva University of Los Angeles (YULA) will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Yeshiva University of Los Angeles (YULA) has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
