Basketball Game Preview: Irvine Vaqueros vs. Laguna Beach Breakers

The Irvine Vaqueros are taking a road trip to challenge the Laguna Beach Breakers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Laguna Beach took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Irvine, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Irvine strolled past Northwood with points to spare, taking the game 54-39. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vaqueros.

Meanwhile, Laguna Beach suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2024 on Monday. They were dealt a 46-18 loss at the hands of Capistrano Valley Christian. The Breakers haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Laguna Beach saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Iillina Reider posted seven points.

Laguna Beach's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Irvine, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Irvine came up short against Laguna Beach when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 50-42. Can Irvine avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
