Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Carson Christian and Jake Brown Lead Northwest to Victory

Northwest won the last time they faced Vinton County and things went their way on Friday too. The Mohawks blew past the Vikings 43-22.

Northwest was led to victory by Jake Brown and Carson Christian. Brown rushed for 105 yards and one score on only 13 carries, while Christian gained 157 total yards and four touchdowns. With that strong performance, Brown is now averaging an impressive 100.3 rushing yards per game.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Northwest's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jaxon Powell and Aidden Armbrister, who racked up four sacks between them. Northwest is undefeated when Armbrister posts one or more sacks, but 1-3 otherwise.

Northwest now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Vinton County, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest will welcome Portsmouth West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mohawks will need to watch out since the Senators have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Vinton County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against River Valley at 7:00 p.m.
