Softball Recap: Gilmer Drops Season-High Score on Trion

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gilmer). They came out on top against the Trion Bulldogs by a score of 6-2 on Saturday.

Lily Fortune spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gilmer saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mary Grace Jones, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Jaylee McDaniel also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Gilmer's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Trion, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Gilmer will square off against Chattooga at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Trion, they will challenge Dade County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
