Basketball Recap: King City Skates Past Santa Catalina with Ease

King City won the last time they faced Santa Catalina and things went their way on Monday too. The King City Mustangs blew past the Santa Catalina Cougars, posting a 53-11 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

King City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Marie Romero, who posted 11 points along with six steals and five assists. Those 11 points gave Romero a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Crystal Paramo, who scored seven points in addition to nine boards and eight steals.

King City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

King City has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for Santa Catalina, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coincidentally, King City and Santa Catalina will both be playing Palma the next time they take the court. King City will head out to face Palma at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Santa Catalina will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
