Basketball Game Preview: Panorama Pythons vs. Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers

Panorama has gone 4-0 against Sun Valley Magnet recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 5:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played.

Panorama is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against San Fernando on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. 2025 welcomed Panorama with a 72-48 loss courtesy of San Fernando. While losing is never fun, the Pythons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 861st, while the Tigers are ranked 404th).

Panorama's loss came about despite a quality game from ROMINA DIAZ, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave DIAZ a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of VALERY QUEZADA, who posted 15 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Sun Valley Magnet had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They rang in the new year with a 44-31 win over University Pathways Medical Magnet on Friday. The Pioneers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Sun Valley Magnet's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Panorama, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Everything went Panorama's way against Sun Valley Magnet in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as Panorama made off with a 52-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Panorama since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
