Football Recap: Gadsden Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Artesia

Gadsden faced Artesia in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Panthers were dealt a 35-7 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JUAN RIOS, who rushed for 102 yards and one score.

Artesia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Parra out in front who rushed for 123 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Parra's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Trent Egeland was in the mix too, providing Artesia with two TDs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gadsden fell to 4-1. As for Artesia, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Gadsden didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 28-27 loss against Goddard on the 26th. As for Artesia, they have also already played their next matchup, a 56-23 win against Lovington on the 26th.
