Football Game Preview: Choctawhatchee Indians vs. American Heritage Patriots + How To Watch

The Choctawhatchee Indians will face off against the American Heritage Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Choctawhatchee is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out St. Augustine 31-28. The game was the first time the Indians have beaten the Yellow Jackets on their field since November 12, 2022.

Tamen Zabetakis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 120 yards and one score on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 171 yards and three TDs. Those 120 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, American Heritage didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Archbishop McCarthy on Friday, but they still walked away with a 25-20 win.

American Heritage's win came from a few key players Choctawhatchee will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Leon Strawder, who threw for 248 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one rushing score. A healthy portion of Strawder's aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to Jamar Denson.

American Heritage didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Archbishop McCarthy to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Patriots hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.5 or higher in four consecutive contests.

American Heritage didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Terrance Johnson and Aldarius Johnson Jr. Johnson is becoming a predictor of American Heritage's success: when he posts at least one interception the team is 5-2 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Choctawhatchee's record now sits at 12-1. As for American Heritage, their record is now 7-5.

Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Choctawhatchee has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 172.9 rushing yards per game.
