Basketball Game Preview: Dundy County-Stratton Tigers vs. Wauneta-Palisade Broncos

The Dundy County-Stratton Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Wauneta-Palisade Broncos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dundy County-Stratton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 40-25 victory over Cambridge on Friday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dundy County-Stratton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abi Spargo, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Spargo, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 15 points.

Dundy County-Stratton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Wauneta-Palisade really took it to Creek Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-23 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-6.

Dundy County-Stratton was able to grind out a solid victory over Wauneta-Palisade when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 41-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
