Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Catholic Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lake Wales

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Fe Catholic). They claimed a resounding 88-54 victory over the Lake Wales Highlanders. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 22 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Tate Darner, who went 12 for 15 en route to 31 points along with five assists and three steals. His evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Toby Lane was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten assists.

Darner wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Santa Fe Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Wales only posted 12 assists.

Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sebastian Perez, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Perez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bradley Auguste, who put up five points and five boards.

The win (which was Santa Fe Catholic's sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.2 points per game. As for Lake Wales, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Santa Fe Catholic has already played their next game, a 77-53 victory against Winthrop College Prep Academy on the 29th. As for Lake Wales, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-58 defeat against Auburndale on the 30th.
