Softball Recap: Atlanta Takes a Loss

Atlanta lost against La Plata back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hornets lost 23-9 to the Bulldogs. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maya Payton and Jada Nelson did some serious damage despite the final result: Payton went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI, while Nelson went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Payton has hit this season. Lexie Ross was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Atlanta's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for La Plata, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Atlanta will challenge Brunswick at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for La Plata, they will square off against Albany on Saturday.
