Marian Catholic extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They really took it to the Panther Valley Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 39-12 victory. The game was close at halftime, but Marian Catholic turned on the heat in the second half with 32 points.

Marian Catholic can attribute much of their success to Jake Tom, who rushed for 58 yards and one TD. Tyler Price got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Marian Catholic's run defense was locked in: Panther Valley could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least six total tackles, Rory Dixon stood above the rest. He rushed for 31 yards and one score. Marian Catholic's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.2.

Marian Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Price and Dixon. Price got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

As for Panther Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. Despite 117 more yards than Marian Catholic, the Panthers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

When it comes to explaining why Panther Valley lost, don't look at Brody Breiner. Despite the final result, he threw for 235 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 40 yards and one TD. Breiner also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making eight total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

Marian Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 34-6 win against Shenandoah Valley on the 12th. As for Panther Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 21-6 victory against Pine Grove on the 13th.
