Basketball Recap: Monte Vista Takes a Loss

The Monte Vista Mustangs were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 43-38 to the St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Bruins are ranked 528th).

Monte Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monte Vista will venture away from home to square off against American Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Mt. Eden at 2:00 p.m. on January 3, 2026.
