Baseball Game Preview: Lee County Trojans vs. Cairo Syrupmakers

Lee County has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cairo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Lee County Trojans will take on the Cairo Syrupmakers at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lee County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Bainbridge with a sharp 11-1 victory on Monday. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Josh Barnes was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Weston Bryan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Lee County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bainbridge only posted an OBP of .346.

Meanwhile, Cairo posted their biggest victory since April 5, 2024 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Tiftarea Academy as Cairo made off with a 12-2 win.

The victory made it two in a row for Lee County and bumps their season record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs over those games. As for Cairo, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Lee County took their victory against Cairo when the teams last played on Friday by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lee County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
