Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If St. Mary was riding high fresh off their 66-39 takedown of Chambers/Wheeler Central last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Mary's Cardinals fell to the Cedar Catholic Trojans 62-58. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 22-15 in the first quarter.

St. Mary's lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ben Barlow, who posted 21 points and five boards. That's the most points Barlow has posted since back in February of 2024. Logan Brabec was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.

St. Mary's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4. As for Cedar Catholic, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the St. Mary's Cardinals take on the Winside Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Mary's is facing Winside at the right time seeing as Winside is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Cedar Catholic, they will take on Wayne on Friday. Wayne is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season.
