Baseball Game Preview: Lafayette Christian Cougars vs. Manchester Blue Devils

The Lafayette Christian Cougars will take on the Manchester Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lafayette Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Manchester's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lafayette Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Central Christian on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 6-4. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Lafayette Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah Hughes, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Hughes has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Landon Childree was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Manchester lost 15-5 to Marion County on Thursday.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lafayette Christian fell to 4-1. As for Manchester, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-4-1.

Lafayette Christian came up short against Manchester when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Lafayette Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
