Softball Game Preview: Weld Central Rebels vs. Brush Beetdiggers

The Weld Central Rebels will venture away from home to face off against the Brush Beetdiggers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Weld Central has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Weld Central is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Tuesday. They came up short against Eaton, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Rebels' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four games, Brush finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northridge.

Elizabeth Peckham put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Peckham wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jolie Tuck, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Tuck is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

Weld Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Brush, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Weld Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Brush struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Weld Central suffered a grim 24-9 defeat to Brush in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
