Baseball Recap: Pinewood Christian Patriots vs. Valwood Valiants        
        
		
            
 Pinewood Christian and Valwood squared off in some playoff action  on Saturday, but Pinewood Christian had to settle for second. They fell  12-7 to the Valwood Valiants. Pinewood Christian has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 For Valwood's part,  Jake Goff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned  (and six unearned) runs on four hits. Goff has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in nine consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side, Valwood let  Jack Drew and  Dalton Smith loose on the outfield. Drew  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances, while  Smith  scored three  runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Dustin Gibbs, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Pinewood Christian's loss dropped their record down to 21-4. As for Valwood, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won six of their last seven games,  which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record  this season.
 Pinewood Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Valwood, they are on the road again  on Friday to play John Milledge Academy. Valwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5  runs per game  this season.
