Basketball Recap: University Prep Academy Find Success

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but University Prep Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 40-39 victory over The Nueva School Mavericks. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The Nueva School lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Willa Beard, who posted 15 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Beard has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anjali Mariathasan, who put up 13 points and five steals.

University Prep Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-3. As for The Nueva School, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-7.

University Prep Academy and The Nueva School's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. University Prep Academy and Design Tech (who has only given up 26.38 points per game) will meet at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, The Nueva School and Basis Independent Silicon Valley (who has only given up 21 points per game) will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
