Basketball Recap: Yreka Comes Up Short

Yreka lost against University Prep back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Yreka Miners were dealt a 66-35 defeat at the hands of the University Prep Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 545th, while the Panthers are ranked 107th).

Yreka's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bella Patino, who posted two points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Alexis Dryg, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Yreka now has a losing record of 12-13. As for University Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Yreka has already played their next match, a 65-50 defeat against West Valley on the 10th. As for University Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-46 victory against Lassen on the 10th.
