Baseball Game Preview: Commerce Tigers vs. Elbert County Blue Devils

Commerce is 2-8 against Elbert County since March of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will welcome the Blue Devils at 5:55 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Commerce is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since April 18, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy 8-7.

Banks County typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Elbert County proved too difficult a challenge. They won by a run and slipped past the Leopards 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted against the Leopards since April 16, 2021.

Adler Bradford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Elbert County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Banks, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Banks has posted since back in February.

Elbert County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-10. As for Commerce, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-21.

Everything went Commerce's way against Elbert County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Commerce made off with an 11-5 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
