Basketball Recap: Ivorii Seals' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mira Mesa over University City

Mira Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 44-35 to the University City Centurions. The Marauders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Centurions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Mira Mesa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ivorii Seals, who posted 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Seals is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Alyssa Otero was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Kami Demara continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for University City, going 6 of 15 on her way to 19 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Topanga Tusantoso, who earned nine points along with six steals and three blocks.

Mira Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for University City, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 11-11.

Mira Mesa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-41 defeat against Scripps Ranch on the 31st. University City has also already played their next matchup, a 54-37 loss against Vincent Memorial on the 29th.
