Bennington faced Elkhorn North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Badgers fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 29-27. The Badgers' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Bennington still got an impressive performance from Ty Bouaphakeo, who threw for 294 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 77 yards. Jake Russell was in the mix too, providing the Badgers with two touchdowns.

Ethan Beachy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Elkhorn North, rushing for 85 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 216 yards on 16 of 29 attempts. What's more, Beachy posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Elkhorn North's leading receiver Drew Meyer was Beachy's top target yet again, picking up 160 receiving yards.

Bennington's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Elkhorn North, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bennington will face off against Plattsmouth at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 979 yards in their previous games. As for Elkhorn North, they will host Pius X at 8:00 p.m. on the 31st.
