Softball Recap: Villa Rica Wins Going Away Against Lithia Springs

Villa Rica never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Lithia Springs Lions with a sharp 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won eight in a row.

Sophia Plagemann made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Lyric Oliver-Poole was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abigail Bradley-Lewis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Villa Rica always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Villa Rica's record is now 6-3. As for Lithia Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Villa Rica will head out to take on Alexander at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lithia Springs, they will head out on the road to square off against New Manchester at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguar have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.4 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
