Basketball Recap: University Pathways Medical Magnet Piles Up the Points Against Port of Los Angeles

University Pathways Medical Magnet fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They claimed a resounding 58-20 victory over the Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears.

Gianna Benitez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of University Pathways Medical Magnet's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Hartfield, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

University Pathways Medical Magnet smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

University Pathways Medical Magnet's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Port of Los Angeles, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

University Pathways Medical Magnet will take on University Pathways Public Service Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Port of Los Angeles, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Locke at 4:30 p.m.
