Football Recap: Laurens Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Laurens extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They took a hard 26-7 fall against the Fountain Inn Fury. The Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Fury from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Laurens lost, don't look at Nehemias Fernandez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 127 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. Fernandez's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards.

As for Fountain Inn, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games.

Sam Holliday had an outrageously good game as he threw for 201 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 66 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (154.3). Bojack Johnson helped out on the ground, rushing for 84 yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Laurens will venture away from home to square off against Southside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Fountain Inn, they will head out to challenge Wren at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
