Soccer Recap: Pope Comes Up Short

Pope lost against Sequoyah back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Pope fell just short of Sequoyah by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Pope came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Sequoyah are ranked 216th).

The defeat snapped Pope's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-6 record. As for Sequoyah, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Pope will challenge Sprayberry at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sequoyah, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Etowah at 7:30 p.m. on April 11.
