Football Game Preview: Pratt Greenbacks vs. Cheney Cardinals

Pratt is 0-5 against Cheney since October of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Greenbacks will host the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cheney will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Pratt extended their winning streak to six on Friday. The Greenbacks took their contest with ease, bagging a 42-13 win over Clearwater. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

Pratt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Strong led the charge by picking up 43 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one TD on the ground. Arley Morrell was another key player, gaining 85 total yards and a touchdown.

Pratt didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gavin Rupe and Luke Gatlin. Rupe got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Collegiate kept up with Cheney until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 48-27 margin over the Spartans. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Spartans are ranked 92nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cheney's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Pratt, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
