Softball Recap: Northgate Vikings vs. Pike County Pirates

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Harris County, Northgate was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Pike County Pirates by a score of 7-4. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 7-3 loss the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2021.

Northgate got a great performance from Ella Coburn as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Coburn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Khaler, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Journey Jackson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Northgate's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6. As for Pike County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-6.

As of now, neither Northgate nor Pike County have any future games scheduled.
