Basketball Recap: Grace Mahony Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Palmer

Riverside's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 39-30 win over the Palmer Tigers. This was payback for the Chargers, who suffered a 44-34 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grace Mahony, who posted eight points in addition to eight boards and six assists. Mahony has been hot, having also posted five or more steals the last six times she's played. Ashley Weltruski was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Palmer, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Riverside will welcome Newman Grove/St. Edward at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside is facing Newman Grove/St. Edward at the right time seeing as Newman Grove/St. Edward is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Palmer, they will square off against Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmer will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: Hampton will have lost 11 straight heading into Tuesday's contest.
