McKenna Holmes looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gaby Gopie, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Addie Joiner also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
East Coweta hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Northgate made easy work of Whitewater on Wednesday and carried off an 18-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.
Ella Coburn tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last seven matchups.
At the plate, Ella Grace Kramer was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Trinity Hargrett was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
East Coweta's record is now 20-3. As for Northgate, their record now sits at 20-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Coweta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .404. However, it's not like Northgate struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Coweta took their win against Northgate in their previous matchup on Monday by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
