Soccer Game Preview: Paraclete vs. St. Genevieve

The Paraclete Spirits will venture away from home to take on the St. Genevieve Valiants at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Paraclete's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy 5-0. The result was nothing new for the Spirits, who have now won eight matchups by four goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, St. Genevieve narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past La Salle 2-1. Given the Valiants' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Lancers are ranked 387th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paraclete has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3-2 record this season. As for St. Genevieve, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6-1.

Paraclete came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Genevieve when the teams last played last Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Paraclete since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
