Baseball Game Preview: Harris County Tigers vs. Central Lions

For the second straight game, Harris County will face off against Central. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Harris County Tigers take on Central Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Harris County will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Harris County proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Central 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since February 10th.

Harris County got a great performance from JT Pirkle as he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Pirkle has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sawyer Roper, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daejeon Elder, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Harris County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 12 consecutive contests.

Harris County's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Central, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 18-1.
