Basketball Recap: Cowanesque Valley Takes a Loss

Cowanesque Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-36 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Penn-Liberty Mountie. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mountie earlier this season, when they won 41-37.

Haley Litzelman was her usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-9 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds for North Penn-Liberty. Litzelman is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Graham, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Cowanesque Valley now has a losing record at 4-5. As for North Penn-Liberty, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cowanesque Valley will challenge Sayre at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Penn-Liberty, they will face off against Meadowbrook Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meadowbrook Christian will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something North Penn-Liberty surely won't give up without a fight.
