Softball Game Preview: Windsor Wizards vs. Fort Collins Lambkins

The Windsor Wizards will face off against the Fort Collins Lambkins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Windsor will be looking to extend their current 17-game winning streak.

Windsor is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Riverdale Ridge, who was ranked 18th at the time (Windsor was ranked second). The Wizards put the hurt on the Ravens with a sharp 9-1 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Wizards have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jenna McGinnis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Windsor let Stephanie Davis and Breckyn Billadeau run wild. Davis went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, while Billadeau went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Davis has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Gabriela Wagner, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Fossil Ridge hit Fort Collins with a eight-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lambkins and the SaberCats finished up their contest with a 13-13 draw.

Windsor's win bumped their record up to 19-1. Fort Collins' tie makes their record 15-4-1 this season.

Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Windsor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Fort Collins struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
