Baseball Recap: Keystone Comes Up Short

Keystone dropped to 7-5 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 17-7 to the Midview Middies. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 2nd.

As for Midview, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Midview's part, Kaiden Vogelpohl was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. The Middies are 2-1 when Vogelpohl posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Szczepanski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Keystone will host Black River at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Midview, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Elyria at 4:45 p.m.
