It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Frederick had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Widefield Gladiators by a score of 12-9. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Elayna Fisher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Brealea Stendel was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Stromberg, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Frederick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 16-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Frederick's win bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Widefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-4.
Frederick wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-4 loss against Holy Family on the 24th. Widefield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
