Basketball Recap: Oxnard Starts off Right with Win over San Fernando

Oxnard had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the San Fernando Tigers, posting a 78-25 victory.

Oxnard's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gia Angell, who went 5-for-10 en route to 16 points in addition to five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Mateos, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 12 points and four steals.

San Fernando's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Oxnard will head out on the road to take on Cleveland at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for San Fernando, they will welcome Arleta at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
