Baseball Game Preview: Sumter County Panthers vs. Columbus Blue Devils

Sumter County is 0-6 against Columbus since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will take on the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Sumter County has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sumter County is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Hardaway, falling 16-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Sumter County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenyon Walters, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Columbus had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Greenwave a 13-0 shutout.

Sumter County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Columbus, they now have a winning record of 15-14.

Sumter County suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Columbus in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
